Lightem Up Ride is a part of the Movember event program and will raise money for testicular cancer. Bike Balls, the brand behind those LED testicles you might have seen hanging from city bike seats, have partnered with Movember to get guys talking about testicular cancer.
The event will hope to put together as many as 1000 Bike Balls on a 100km ride from Brisbane to the Gold Coast. Each pair of Balls purchased for the event will be money forwarded to the Movember foundation and will include a rear safety light for your bike.
Movember was founded to address the staggering amount of premature male deaths around the world. After realizing that many of these deaths were preventable, the Movember foundation began working to raise awareness of male health issues and services. The charity has grown since 2003, from 30 mustaches to 5 million and continues to challenge the biggest health issues faced by men such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.
The foundation works with independent funding initiatives to research the impact the charity has on tackling these problems, and has funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world since its inception. Movember is working towards reducing the number of men dying prematurely by 25% in 2030.
