Rotary FNQ Field Days 2019

May 29, 2019 - May 31, 2019

The FNQ Rotary Field Days are a project of the Rotary Clubs of Atherton and Mareeba.

All monies raised are donated to charities and community organizations in the Atherton Tablelands area.

The Rotary FNQ Field Days has grown exponentially since its conception more than 25 years ago. Run by the combined Atherton and Mareeba Rotary Clubs, the community event raised a record $190,000 in 2015.  On average 8,000 people came through our gates each day.

Held over three days on a biennial basis, the award-winning field days is the largest community event on the Tablelands.

As it approaches its 25th birthday, very few associated with this month’s event would have imagined its evolution into the largest agricultural field day in Far North Queensland.

The Field Days home has moved four times, with its current location, the Mareeba Rodeo Grounds, witnessing the event’s largest growth.

The Field Days started in the mid-1980s when one of Atherton’s pioneering farming families, the Beatties, offered land on their Malanda-Atherton Road potato farm for a field day.

In September 1989, the Atherton, Malanda and Mareeba Rotary Clubs combined to form the FNQ Rotary Field Days and the concept took off.

Over the years the event grew and eventually the Atherton and Mareeba clubs combined to operate it. The event raises much needed funds for the community. Each club has it’s priority projects and causes while the field day committee also donates to service clubs across the Tableland region.

The support from the community – businesses, service clubs and sponsors – is simply astounding. Without this support and the foresight and passion of the Rotarians who have been involved in delivering the event for more than two decades, the event would not have evolved into what it is today. Along the way it has been the recipient of two prestigious Australia Day Awards.

Following the 2011 event, it was clear that a new bigger, better site was needed to help the event grow to its full potential. Strategic partners who share Rotary’s passion and drive to see the event into the future were brought on board to take it to the next level.

In May 2013, the Mareeba Rodeo Grounds was transformed into the largest and most comprehensive display of agricultural equipment and associated products and services in the region. It hosted 250 exhibitors and was deemed a sell-out. In 2017 we will be releasing 500 sites for sale. This growth could not be possible without the support from our exhibitors, some have returned each event since the beginning and the public in the gates. We are so grateful for the support and we are committed to continuing this event to give exposure to rural and related industries as a major boost to the economy.

Rotary FNQ Field Days is a community operated event. We have been running the field days for the past 25 years and without the support from our entire community this event would never be possible. We rely on volunteers from Community Organisations and Service Clubs to ‘volunteer’ their time to assist us to make a success of the Event to benefit our community as a whole.
