Komatsu are quickly becoming industry leaders with their accelerated use of machine telematics*. Komatsu\u2019s technology provides huge benefits for owners, operators and fleet managers alike. <\/span><\/p>\n

KOMATRAX Technology<\/span><\/h2>\n

Recently, Komatsu<\/a> released new earthmoving machines. All equipped with the Komatsu KOMATRAX Step 5 remote monitoring capabilities. This gives machine owners and fleet managers access to detailed data related to all aspects of the machine\u2019s operation. The data is available online 24\/7 via PC, smartphone or tablet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Todd Connolly, Komatsu General Manager (Construction Solutions), says the data helps owners keep on top of their machine. \u201cThat data, combined with Komatsu\u2019s analytical and predictive capabilities based on millions of machine hours of data, allows us to work with our customers to help ensure their Komatsu equipment is always working at its optimum.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

But remote monitoring is one element in Komatsu\u2019s telematics capabilities. Komatsu are moving towards their goal of full machine automation, starting with semi-automation of complex earthmoving activities. These activities include digging, excavating, levelling and grading. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Komatsu Intelligent Machine Control<\/span><\/h2>\n

Mr Connolly discussed the intelligent machine control concept. \u201cIn the past 18 months, we\u2019ve introduced our integrated \u2018intelligent Machine Control\u2019 concept. This allows machines such as excavators and bulldozers to excavate, bulk out and trim in high-precision complex 3D designs,\u201d Mr Connolly said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCustomers who\u2019ve used this technology are seeing massive benefits from it. We are already seeing many repeat orders from contractors and plant hirers throughout Australia and New Zealand.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

SMARTCONSTRUCTION Technology<\/span><\/h2>\n

On top of these game-changing technologies, Komatsu have rolled out SMARTCONSTRUCTION. A completely new concept in construction technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSMARTCONSTRUCTION improves site process and productivity, machine control management, machine interconnectivity and review of project progress during the construction phase. Culminating in development of detailed as-built information for future construction and infrastructure maintenance,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt gives our customers a real edge in today\u2019s competitive and challenging construction environment,\u201d Mr Connolly added.<\/span><\/p>\n
