The rest of us didn\u2019t pay any mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But now\u2026 while it is still optional, those without a secure site may be losing potential customers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As of July 1, 2018, Google made it a lot more obvious when a site hasn\u2019t moved over to HTTPS. With an update to Google Chrome, users would see when a website isn\u2019t on HTTPS. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/security.googleblog.com\/2018\/02\/a-secure-web-is-here-to-stay.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google explained this in their blog<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFor the past several years, we\u2019ve moved toward a more secure web by strongly advocating that sites adopt HTTPS encryption. And within the last year, we\u2019ve also helped users understand that HTTP sites are not secure by gradually marking a larger subset of HTTP pages as \u201cnot secure\u201d. Beginning in July 2018 with the release of Chrome 68, Chrome will mark all HTTP sites as \u201cnot secure\u201d.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What\u2019s the difference between HTTP and HTTPS?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main difference is HTTPS uses a secure server, that allows your connection to a website (i.e. your browsing data within that website) to be encrypted. This move to HTTPS is Google\u2019s attempt at making a safer, more secure browsing experience for everyone. A few other benefits of HTTPS may include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A possible boost in page rankings<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Faster page loads<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Better brand perception<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How Do I Make The Switch To HTTPS?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google claims switching to HTTPS is easier and cheaper than ever before.
