This technology can single out weeds and spray in a contained area of 500mm. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first launch event is to be held on the 20th of May at Tapscott\u2019s Farm, Pingrup WA, and the second, May 24th at Beefwood Farms, near Moree, NSW. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agrifac is planning to invite a mix of farmers, agronomists, journalists and industry experts to each event, and even interested growers and contractors are welcome to attend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Mark Bastian, Agrifac National Sales Manager for Australia, \u201cThis will give them a chance to see AICPlus in action, learn how it works and talk to Agrifac\u2019s local and Dutch representatives about the breakthrough technology.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How Does AICPlus Technology Work?<\/span><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26158\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26158\" style=\"width: 567px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26158\" src=\"\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/cameralaser.jpg\" alt=\"AICPlus Camera\" width=\"567\" height=\"419\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26158\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">AICPlus cameras single out weeds as you drive, automatically spraying them.\u00a0Source: supplied.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new AICPlus technology uses an array of cameras at 3m intervals, combined with artificial intelligence that can recognise weed species and complex algorithms, to single out and spray only unwanted plants. The algorithms factor in a number of variables before spraying, including: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Distance from camera to weed<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Forward speed of the sprayer<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boom height<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These factors, and others, instruct the technology on which nozzles to open and when. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What Can This Revolutionary Technology Achieve?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So far, AICPlus underwent testing in its \u2018green on brown\u2019 phase\u2014spraying green weeds in unseeded fields and bare soil. The results?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system successfully targeted more than 90% of the weeds with a diameter greater than 30mm and 95% of weeds with a diameter greater than 50mm, while going up to 20km\/h. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mark reported that \u201cthe trials have revealed huge savings of water, chemical, time and money\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26159\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26159\" style=\"width: 562px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26159\" src=\"\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/greenonbrown.png\" alt=\"Boom with AICPlus attached\" width=\"562\" height=\"344\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26159\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Cameras attached to boom detect weeds and instruct nozzles when to open and spray.\u00a0 Souce: supplied.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trials at Beefwood Farms found that the AICPlus reduced the water usage from 929,850L of water, down to 60,400L and refills from 223 down to 12. This saved an estimated 110 hours in refill time, making it possible to treat a 1000 hectare area in a single, 12 to 13 hour day. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course, most farmers will care most about cost vs benefits. According to their press release, the AICPlus camera system will cost from $200,000 to install (depending on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.machines4u.com.au\/browse\/farm-machinery\/sprayers-187\/boom-sprayer-4088\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">boom width<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). The Beefwood trial showed a chemical saving of $151,277 per season by using AICPlus. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The two launch events will focus on the breakthrough technology itself.
