Along the way, the Victorian family business has earned a reputation for taking on the work others won’t, or simply can’t.<\/p>\n

That willingness to tackle the difficult jobs has driven the business since 1997, when Peter Sadler Senior and his son, Peter Sadler Junior, started with a single van bodied truck moving family homes around Melbourne.<\/p>\n

Nearly three decades later, the operation spans multiple warehouse sites, a diverse customer base and an expanding transport fleet – servicing metropolitan, regional and interstate freight requirements.<\/p>\n

“Whether it’s house moves, 20-route deliveries in the rain or demanding commercial freight work, our people just get the job done,\u201d Brayden said.<\/p>\n

“We pride ourselves on doing the work that others won’t or can’t.<\/p>\n

“The other thing that really sets us apart is our culture. We invest a lot into our drivers and our people because we know they’re representing the business every day.”<\/p>\n

That same philosophy has led Peter Sadler to its latest fleet investment.<\/p>\n

Purpose-built<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Joining the stable is an order of two all-new Isuzu FVL 260-300s<\/a> \u200b and five FSDs from the F Series range, all equipped with curtain-side bodies and tail-lift rear loaders, purpose-built for the company’s intrastate freight operation.<\/p>\n

As for the newly released FVLs, they slot seamlessly into a fleet already bristling with Isuzu product, servicing everything from beverage distribution and commercial appliance deliveries to warehouse logistics and general freight.<\/p>\n

Sadler\u2019s Compliance & Fleet Manager, Chris Walsh, said selecting the right truck specification was every bit as important as choosing the right brand.<\/p>\n

“The majority of the fleet is Isuzu because it’s so flexible in its application,” Chris said.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s that flexibility is precisely what makes the FVL such a strong fit.<\/p>\n

The 26,000 kg Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) platform provides the payload capacity required for high-volume metropolitan freight, while remaining manoeuvrable enough to negotiate suburban streets, loading docks and busy hub-and-spoke distribution centres.<\/p>\n

The curtain-side body and tail-lift configuration further improves loading efficiency, allowing drivers to move everything from palletised freight to oversized consignments quickly and safely.<\/p>\n

“The Isuzus cover everything for us, from general freight deliveries and house removals through to our beverage distribution work,\u201d said Chris.<\/p>\n

“When we purchase a new vehicle, the guys at Westar Isuzu<\/a> manage the whole process from start to finish, so it really is a total solution for us.”<\/p>\n

A perfect match<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Power comes by way of Isuzu’s newly developed 6.7-litre DB6A-TCC six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, producing 221 kW and 984 Nm. Matched to the Allison 3500 GEN 6, six-speed fully automatic transmission, the newly improved driveline delivers smooth, uninterrupted power exactly where and when the Sadler team need it most.<\/p>\n

Unlike long-haul interstate driving, metropolitan freight places constant demands on a truck. Drivers are repeatedly accelerating, braking, negotiating traffic, reversing into loading bays and moving between dozens of deliveries every day.<\/p>\n

In that environment, the Isuzu-Allison combination really shines.<\/p>\n

Carefully calibrated gear ratios mean smooth changes and reduced driver workload. Consistent torque delivery makes carting varying payloads effortless. The Allison transmission removes much of the fatigue associated with continual stop-start driving, allowing drivers to concentrate on traffic, their customers and the task at hand.<\/p>\n

Peter Sadler’s fleet strategy has always been closely tied to workplace safety.<\/p>\n

The business understands that comfortable drivers are generally safer, more productive drivers, particularly during long metropolitan shifts where fatigue can gradually build throughout the day.<\/p>\n

“The additional cabin comfort in these new models means better fatigue management at our end. This was a huge consideration for us,” Chris said.<\/p>\n

“Our on-road staff experience long days, so the more comfortable they can be, the easier those days become.<\/p>\n

“Everything from the air-suspended ISRI driver\u2019s seat to the climate control, the dash layout and infotainment system makes life easier.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven something as simple as the lower step height on the FVL – getting in and out of the truck – makes a genuine difference across a full day.”<\/p>\n

Specified for general freight tasks, the FVL 260-300 aligns well to a driver-first approach.<\/p>\n

Safety features in include Advanced Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning and Electronic Stability Control. \u200b \u200b \u200b \u200b<\/p>\n

On the tech front, the 10-inch MyIsuzu Co-Pilot infotainment system also contributes towards reducing fatigue while supporting safer operation in often chaotic inner-city traffic conditions.<\/p>\n

For Chris, however, another feature of the Isuzu F Series range is one that often goes unnoticed.<\/p>\n

“Commonality across the fleet is key for us,” he explained.<\/p>\n

“A driver gets out of one truck and gets into another and it’s almost exactly the same, or very similar in its layout.<\/p>\n

“Our staff do move between different vehicles depending on the workloads, so the more familiar everything is, the easier it is and the less chance there is of issues when they’re out on the road.”<\/p>\n

For a fleet operating across multiple vehicle classes, that familiarity reduces the learning curve and ensures drivers leave the depot confident, regardless of which truck they’re assigned.<\/p>\n

“Since then, Isuzu has become our go-to brand.<\/p>\n

“The technology is best-in-class for the price point. The trucks are easy to drive and having one key supplier makes fleet management easier for us.”<\/p>\n

Today, the relationship extends well beyond vehicle purchasing.<\/p>\n

“We’re in a growth period right now,” Chris said.<\/p>\n
