Isuzu Power Solutions Plugs Gap in Generator Market
Isuzu Power Solutions (IPS) has grown its fuel efficient, ultra-reliable and quiet Japanese-built enclosed generator range with the introduction of two new models in the important 9kW single-phase and 12kVA three-phase power output nodes.
The new units add to the existing 20 & 50kVA rated IPS genset units and with this latest release expand the power output offering from the brand to cover the main sales segments of the enclosed generator market.
According to Isuzu Power Solutions National Sales Manager, Troy Lawson, the launch of the new models opens the IPS genset offering to an even broader segment of the market and importantly, specifically targets the high volume 5 to 15-kilowatt segment.
“We know that the 5 to 15-kilowatt segment of the enclosed generator market represents close to 40 per cent of all sales and represents a broad range of end-users from trades to field service, utility operations, mobile work sites and agriculture operations,” Mr Lawson said.
“We’re also seeing growing demand from customers looking for reliable off-grid electricity generation and these new units are well suited to hybrid configurations, providing the peace of mind of on-demand diesel generation should there be a need for power beyond the renewable system elements.
“With our new 9 kilowatt (kW) single-phase and 12 kilovolt-amp (kVA) three-phase gensets we can cater to a broad customer based across these varied applications, and our generators include additional features that are unique in this market segment,” he continued.
The new 9kW and 12 kVA gensets build on the impressive reputation for performance and reliability that the existing 20 and 50 kVA units have developed since their release onto the Australian market some five years ago.

Critically, the new units have been developed specifically for local operating conditions and regulations and comply with Australian electrical and safety requirements.
IPS Engineering Manager, Benjamin Binns commented on the process of designing and developing the units.
“We developed the original concept and electrical design here in Australia, followed by an extensive development program with our Japanese manufacturing partner to bring the design to production,” Mr Binns said.
“A key objective was to deliver more usable power and longer runtime, while making the generator easier to install, safer to operate and more flexible across a wide range of applications.
“What really stands out is the combination of high output and capability we’ve managed to package into such a compact footprint,” he said.
Small and mighty
The GS-ETT gensets measure 1,300 mm long and 640 mm wide, making them ideal for vehicle mounted applications and the wet weight of 436 kg means there’s still ample payload available for other essential trades equipment and tools in this type of mobile usage.
The single-phase GS009-ETT-S delivers 9.2 kilowatts of prime output with a standby rating of 10.1 kilowatts, and the three-phase GS012-ETT provides 12.1kVA prime output and 13.3kVA standby, delivering one of the strongest power to footprint ratios in the generator class.
The rated current is 38.3 amps on the single-phase GS009-ETT-S and 16.8 amps per phase on the three-phase GS012-ETT, providing the capability to operate larger equipment and demanding electrical loads with confidence.

Endurance racer
Equipped with a substantial 40-litre fuel tank, users can expect 10.5 hours minimum runtime, equivalent to a full working day for many applications without requiring refuelling.
At three-quarter load, runtime extends to approximately 13 hours, allowing operators to spend more time getting the job done and less time refuelling.
Fuel consumption figures are also highly competitive for the available power output. When evaluating generator performance, an important consideration is fuel efficiency relative to power delivered, as opposed to simply litres consumed per hour.

Clean and smart
The GS-ETT Series incorporates a dedicated load centre, providing an accessible hardwire connection point for clean and professional installations without the need to modify the generator’s internal wiring.
The load centre also houses the output selector switch, hardwire terminals and an easily accessible two-wire remote-start connection, simplifying installation and integration with transfer switches, remote-start systems and other electrical installations, while all generator access points are lockable, helping prevent unauthorised access or tampering.

The output selector switch is a standout feature of the GS-ETT Series gensets and includes automatic multiple earthed neutral (MEN) management, developed specifically to address the different electrical requirements of socket-outlet and hardwired operation.
The output selector switch allows operators to easily select between socket outlet supply, hardwired connection to an electrical installation, or off, which isolates the generator output. Selecting the required application automatically establishes the correct MEN arrangement and ensures only the selected output can be energised.
On a conventional generator capable of both applications, changing between each may require a licensed electrician to access the generator, alter the MEN connection and ensure the unused output is isolated. This contrasts with the GS-ETT Series, where this functionality has been engineered into the generator.
The result is a generator that is easier to install, simpler to reconfigure between applications, safer and easier to keep compliant.
Control is via the GC250 digital controller, providing monitoring of voltage, frequency, current, power and engine RPM, together with manual and automatic start capability. A dedicated two-wire remote-start connection provides straightforward integration with transfer switches and remote-start applications.

All-weather, manoeuvrable performers
The GS-ETT gensets features an all-weather powder-coated enclosure, with sound-insulated panels to reduce operating noise, while access doors are fitted with dust seals and secured with zinc-plated fasteners to improve corrosion resistance and durability in demanding operating environments.
The units are also easy to manoeuvre via the rated single-point lifting lug located on top of the unit or the removable bolt-on fork pockets. Overall unit height without the fork pockets is 760mm.
Available options include an environmental bund for applications requiring additional fluid containment, a lockable fuel cap, battery charge and earth leakage relay.
The units are backed by a three-year or 3,000 hour warranty with support through the extensive nationwide Isuzu Power Solutions dealer network.
