13-Part Series To Help You Get The Most Out Of Machines4U
Module 6
How To Understand Your Listing Performance
Now that you know the basics of an effective listing, it’s time to think about your listing performance. So, let’s run through the stats and reporting system in your MyMachines4U dashboard and look at what’s working for you and what could be improved.
The beauty of your Machines4U membership is that it is fully transparent, so you can actually see what’s happening with your advertising and adjust based on what the data shows you.
In this article, you’ll learn:
- Where you can find your listing stats and reports
- What the overview report tells you about your advertising
- What individual ad statistics tell you about your listings
- How you can take the data and use it to make your listings more effective
- Who should be using the stats and reporting section of your MyMachines4U dashboard
Finding Your Listing Stats And Reports
You’ll find your statistics and reports in the MyMachines4U dashboard under the “Stats Leads” section. Simply click on “Sales Hub” to see your report overview.

Your Overview Report

The overview report tells you exactly how your listings are tracking compared to other sellers in your category, and ranks you accordingly.
Here’s what each pie graph represents, from left to right:
- The first pie graph shows how many listings you’ve placed or updated over the last month
- The second shows how your listings rank, according to buyer engagement
- The third shows you the dollar value of leads you’re getting, and how that compares to your competition
Underneath each pie graph, you’ll see you are given a ranking for each metric.
So in this case, the user is 2nd of 275 sellers for listings placed, 2nd of 275 sellers for buyer engagement and 2nd of 275 sellers for dollar value sales leads. What does this mean? Well it shows us that this user is updating or adding more listings consistently, has good content that buyer’s are engaging in, and has equally good return on investment in terms of dollar-value leads.
Sales Lead Funnel
Now, if you scroll down you’ll see a funnel. This funnel is really valuable because it shows the buying journey from search to sale. It’s designed to capture the performance of your advertising, and can really help you make a difference, all you need to do is use it to your advantage.

So, let’s go through it step-by-step and start at the top of the funnel working our way down.
- Search Result Views—The first section is for search result views, which is how many times a buyer has looked at a search result that contains your listing.
- Detail Views—Below that, you’ll see the number of detail views, which is the amount that your full page listing has been viewed after clicking through from the search results.
- Buyer Engagement—Next comes buyer engagement, which is the number of actions taken on your listing. This includes things like: video views, enquiries, PDF downloads and prints.
- Sales Leads—And lastly, you’ll see the sales leads that have been generated for your listings, and their value underneath.
But, how do you measure this? Well, in a perfect world, you’d get 10% of each number above. For example, if your listing received 100,000 views in the search results, you could expect 10,000 detail views, which would result in 1000 buyers engaging in your listing, and finally, 100 leads. Now, this is just an example of an ideal situation, and of course the real world isn’t always predictable. But you can still use this as a rough guideline to measure how your advertising is performing, more on this below.
Now you get to the meaty part. That is: how many sales did you make from your delivered leads? You can count on Machines4U to deliver your leads, but it’s up to your team to make the sale.
Individual Listing Statistics
After looking at your overview report, you should be able to see the big picture of how you’re performing on Machines4U. But, what about your individual listings?
Individual listing reports can tell you (pretty quickly) whether you need to modify your ad. If you view the stats and a certain listing isn’t performing, like maybe it’s getting a lot of listing views, but no click throughs… then you need to improve the content or position it better (more on how you can use these stats to improve your listings below).
Finding Your Individual Listing Stats

You’ll find your individual ad stats under “Advert Statistics” in your MyMachines4U dashboard. From there, you can click into any of your listings and see how they’re performing.
Buyer Engagement

You’ll notice that the individual listing statistics lead with the buyer engagement, because this tells you exactly what buyers are interested in, and clicking on your listing. This information is displayed in an easy-to-read pie graph.
So, in this example you can see that even in this digital age, buyers on Machines4U still want to print your listing and have something in front of them. This usually occurs after-hours, as they’ll print an ad ready to take to your showroom the next day or to have your phone number handy.
Video definitely has the highest buyer engagement of all other forms. Here it has produced a massive 84.8% of the total buyer engagement. This tells you that buyers are more likely to watch a video than do anything else on a listing. Video is a simple way to have buyers see, hear and learn about your machinery quickly and efficiently. And with these engagement results, it’s clear that adding a video to your listing is highly valuable and could be the difference between you getting the lead or missing out.
Another thing this graph shows you is the amount of people who have clicked to see where you’re located. This is referred to as the ‘map views’, and is great if you like getting people through your showroom door. A map view of your showroom is included on every listing because buyers respond well to seeing your location. They can weigh up other factors like freight or shipping to determine whether your machine is the right one.
Individual Listing Sales Funnel

Underneath the pie graph for buyer engagement is a sales funnel. This is displayed the same as the funnel in your overview report with the search result views, detail views, buyer engagement and sales leads, but instead focuses on the individual listing.
Organic vs Promoted Views
Now, if you scroll down further you’ll see a bar graph that displays your daily buyer search result views.

This graph is important because it’ll give you a good idea of how much exposure your listing is receiving. You can see in the above example, that the blue graph displays the organic search views, while the orange displays the promoted search views. And in most cases, the promoted views will outweigh the organic results. This is because promoted listings spend more time at the top of the search results, which gives your listing more exposure.
Using The Data To Make Your Listings More Effective
Your MyMachines4U dashboard reports are the best weapons in your arsenal for successful listings. All you need to do is look at how buyers are engaging with your listings.
Maybe you’re getting great results in the search and detail views, but your buyer engagement and leads aren’t there? This could be an issue with your content: maybe you need to add videos, photos or a PDF to entice buyers and get them engaging with your listings.
Or perhaps you’ve got a decent amount of buyer engagement, but the listing views aren’t there? This could be a positioning issue: maybe you need to promote your listing and get it in front of more eyeballs. Whatever your results, you can use these reports to determine how you’re performing in the wider marketplace and within specific listings.
Category Statistics
Another thing that will help you take the data and make your listings more effective is the “Category Stats” available. This report will show you how you’re performing in your categories, and will give you a good idea of what the market is actually searching for. So you can buy more of that machine and have the right stock levels when people come into the marketplace.

Who Should Be Using The Stats and Reporting Section Of Your MyMachines4U Dashboard?
It probably seems obvious to put the director or CEO of your company in charge of the stats and reporting. But, it can be beneficial for more than just the decision makers. It’s important that everyone in your company has an idea of how your listings are performing.
People who should use MyMachines4U reporting include:
- Your sales team, so they can see what’s working on their listings and what categories to push sales in
- The sales manager should be using it to assess the sales team, and to determine whether they’re taking too long to close deals or if they’re missing out on them
- Management, accounts and directors should be looking at these reports to see the return on investment
So, that covers the stats and reporting section of your MyMachines4U dashboard. If you have any questions, ask your account manager and they’ll show you the stats that matter to you.
In the next module, you’ll find out all about Machinemail, a simple tool that sends your Machines4U listings direct to your customers.
