The Gold Coast is the perfect spot for athletic events, inviting triathletes, ironmen and marathon runners to attend some of the biggest races on their competitive calendars throughout the seasons. This year competitors will be able to add one more to their schedule, and they’ll be able to say it’s the most generous event they’ve ever competed in.
The Australian Corporate Triathlon Series will come to the Gold Coast on the 29th of April. The series is encouraging Corporations of any size to partake, inviting everyone from CEO’s to GM’s to Labourers to get on board with the event and take the fight to mental health issues.
The mental health statistics within Australia signal a need for change in the way we approach mental illnesses. As many as 1 million Australian adults are experiencing depression with 2 million more burdened by serious anxiety. On average 8 people take their lives every day in Australia and 1 in 5 employees within the workforce are likely to be experiencing mental health illness.
The benefits of addressing these issues will spread from the patients to Australian businesses, as untreated mental health issues cost employers $10.9 billion every year through absenteeism and lowered productivity levels. By taking part in one of the Australian Corporate Triathlon Series you will be contributing to Beyondblue and helping solve the issues facing Australians suffering from mental diseases.
A seemingly daunting task, the Triathlon is only as hard as you make it. Competitors can chose to complete the event as a team, with a designated athlete for each leg of the race, or they can enter as individuals and give the 300m Swim / 10km Cycle / 4.5km Run a solo crack.
Held at Broadwater on the Gold Coast, the Triathlon will give entrants an opportunity to show off their corporate colours with customizable suits and shirts, as well as attend a marquee social event following the race.
