Spotless Worksites Win New Business

Spotless Worksites Win New Business

Like many businesses, Wollongong-based Slimline Excavations in New South Wales has felt the pressures of rising costs across the earthmoving industry. To combat these price increases they have been steadfast in deploying high-quality workmanship with premium equipment and leaving worksites tidy.

Started in 2016 servicing the South Coast of NSW, Slimline Excavations has a team of four employees with up to seven sub-contractors, that specialise in a range of high-end complete house builds to entire sub-division projects.

To support Slimline Excavation’s intricate work are 5-tonne and 14-tonne Kobelco excavators fitted with D-Lock Tilt hitches from Doherty Couplers and Attachments, with the 14-tonner also being equipped with 3D Topcon GPS. Managing Director – Mitchell Stokoe says, “With the precision of the GPS and the manoeuvrability of the Doherty tilt hitch the quality of the work we can achieve is outstanding.”

Mitchell comes from a coal mining background where he slowly built and transitioned into Slimline Excavations by working Friday to Sunday in the Helensburgh mines, and Monday to Thursday on the Slimline business.

A key point that Slimline was built on from these early stages, was ensuring each project was completed to a high standard and work sites were left spotless.

“Other companies don’t last long because they’re trying to get in and out of jobs quickly which leads to unhappy clients,” says Mitchell. “We’ve got great clients who are willing to invest a bit more to get the job done right and find the project site in a tidy condition when we leave. Any mess we make – it’s our job to clean up.”

A pivotal piece of equipment that allows Slimline’s excavators to complete complex work in confined spaces, is the D-Lock Tilt, due to its 180-degree tilt angle and the ability to quickly interchange attachments without having to move the entire machine.

Mitchell explains, “We’re able to dig around live services with confidence and precision because of the smoothness in control we have from hitch to joystick. Occasionally we have to use other subcontractor machines that use different hitches, and my guys just can’t wait to get back on our tools.”

With a strong reputation in the industry, Mitchell says he is conscious to maintain Slimline Excavation’s integrity. “I’m really happy where we are as a team and the attention to detail we can offer our clients, so I’m wary about growing Slimline Excavations more than this, so we can keep on delivering clean, quality results for our customers.”

Doherty Couplers & Attachments is one of the few manufacturers globally to offer quick couplers 100% compliant to Australian standard AS4772-2008, WorkCover NSW Position paper WC01783, European EN474 standard, ISO 13031 International standard and all major contractor policies.

The main feature of the D-Lock coupler is its Dual Pin Locking (DPL) system ensuring attachments remain securely engaged on both pins in the event of loss of engagement force. Compact in design and powerful, the D-Lock Tilt Coupler incorporates a precision-built actuator with up to 180 degrees tilt and is virtually maintenance free.
