      Description
SMTCL HTC63 Series Heavy-Duty Slant Bed CNC Lathe

The SMTCL HTC63 Series is a higher-capacity slant bed CNC lathe platform designed for machining larger shaft and disc-type components in demanding engineering and production environments.

Available in Q, H and S configurations, the HTC63 Series allows the machine to be selected according to the required balance of general-purpose capability, production efficiency and heavy-cutting performance.

The Series covers turning lengths from 1000 mm to 3000 mm and provides substantially greater turning diameter, spindle bore, chuck capacity, spindle torque and workpiece load capacity than the smaller HTC40 and HTC50 platforms.

The HTC63 Series is particularly suited to engineering machinery, automotive components, metallurgy, casting, valves, cylinder components, long shafts and other medium-to-heavy industrial workpieces where machine rigidity and spindle capability are critical.

      Higher-Capacity Turning Platform

The HTC63 Series provides a substantial increase in turning capability compared with the HTC50 platform.

The increase is particularly significant in:

      • Turning diameter

      • Spindle bore

      • Bar capacity

      • Chuck size

      • Spindle torque

      • Shaft workpiece load

      • Heavy-cutting capability

This makes the HTC63 Series a more appropriate platform where workpiece size and cutting load begin to exceed the practical limits of medium-capacity turning centres.

      Large Shaft and Disc Capability

The HTC63 platform is designed for both shaft-type and disc-type workpieces.

Depending on configuration, the machine can accommodate:

      • Shaft turning diameters up to approximately 630 mm

      • Disc turning diameters up to approximately 800 mm

      • Turning lengths up to 3000 mm

      • Shaft workpieces up to approximately 3000 kg on the S configuration

This broad working range makes the HTC63 suitable for many demanding engineering sectors.

      High-Torque Spindle Options

One of the major strengths of the HTC63 Series is the substantial spindle torque available across the Q, H and S configurations.

      HTC63Q:

      • Maximum torque approximately 1250 Nm

      HTC63H:

      • Maximum torque approximately 1900 Nm

      HTC63S:

      • Maximum torque approximately 3800 Nm

The HTC63S therefore provides approximately three times the maximum spindle torque of the HTC63Q.

This makes the S configuration particularly suitable for:

      • Heavy rough turning

      • Large-diameter steel components

      • Castings

      • Large forgings

      • Deep cutting

      • Large chucking work

      • Applications requiring high material-removal rates

Large Spindle Bore and Bar Capacity

The HTC63 Series provides progressively larger spindle bores across the Q, H and S versions.

      HTC63Q:

      • 104 mm spindle bore

      • 85 mm maximum bar capacity

      HTC63H:

      • 106 mm spindle bore

      • 88 mm maximum bar capacity

      HTC63S:

      • 140 mm spindle bore

      • 125 mm maximum bar capacity

The HTC63S is therefore particularly suitable where large through-spindle bar or tube capacity is important.

      Large Chuck Capacity

The HTC63 platform is available with significantly larger chuck sizes than HTC40 and HTC50 machines.

      HTC63Q:

      • 12-inch chuck

      HTC63H:

      • 15-inch chuck

      HTC63S:

      • 18-inch chuck

This allows the machine to support larger components and stronger clamping arrangements.

The 18-inch HTC63S configuration is particularly useful for:

      • Heavy disc work

      • Large flanges

      • Castings

      • Forgings

      • Large shaft ends

      • Valve components

      Heavy Workpiece Capacity

The HTC63 Series is designed to support substantially heavier workpieces than smaller slant-bed turning platforms.

Maximum shaft workpiece capacity increases from:

      • Approximately 1300 kg on HTC63Q

      to:

      • Approximately 2000 kg on HTC63H

      and:

      • Approximately 3000 kg on HTC63S

This makes the H and S versions particularly suitable for heavy shaft components and engineering machinery applications.

      Turret Configuration

The HTC63Q and HTC63H use a 12-station horizontal servo turret.

      The servo turret supports:

      • Efficient tool indexing

      • Repeatable tool positioning

      • Multi-operation turning

      • Batch production

      • Reduced non-cutting time

The HTC63S uses a 12-station horizontal hydraulic turret.

The hydraulic turret configuration is more appropriate to the heavier-cutting philosophy of the S platform.

      Machine Rigidity and Heavy-Duty Design

The HTC63 Series is intended for larger workpieces and higher cutting loads.

The machine structure is designed around:

      • High structural rigidity

      • Large spindle support

      • Strong workholding capacity

      • Stable tool support

      • Heavy workpiece capability

      • Production reliability

The 2026 manufacturer development material specifically identifies HTC63 and HTC80 hard-guide machines as a focus area for further performance and reliability improvement in heavy-duty applications.
