SCM Nova SI 4 Sliding Table Saw
The SCM Nova SI 4 is a high-performance manual sliding table saw specifically tailored for the Australian woodworking industry. Designed for workshops that need to transition seamlessly between solid timber and large-format panels, this machine features a 400 mm blade capacity and an independent scoring motor as standard, ensuring a premium finish across a diverse range of materials.
Maximum Cutting Depth with 400 mm Blade Capacity The Nova SI 4 is engineered to house a 400 mm diameter saw blade simultaneously with the scoring blade. This configuration provides a significant cutting height of 140 mm at 90 degrees and 97 mm at a 45-degree tilt, making it highly effective for heavy-duty ripping and deep mitre cuts in thick hardwoods.
Patented Arch-Ground Steel Slideways The sliding carriage features SCM’s renowned arch-ground steel guides, which are mechanically fixed via a riveting process. This avoids the long-term reliability issues associated with glued guides, providing a smooth, vibration-free glide that maintains its accuracy over the entire life of the machine without requiring manual adjustment.
Independent Motor for the Scoring Unit To ensure 100% of the main 7 kW motor’s power is dedicated to the primary cut, the Nova SI 4 includes a separate 1.3 kW scoring motor. This setup is essential for achieving chip-free results on double-sided melamine and veneered panels, providing the torque needed for demanding industrial applications.
Rigid Cast-Iron Saw Unit Structure The internal saw unit is built with a heavy-duty, closed-loop cast-iron structure. This design provides maximum torsional rigidity and effective vibration damping, ensuring the blade remains perfectly stable. This leads to cleaner cuts and a higher quality surface finish, even when processing the toughest materials.
Ergonomic Front-Mounted Handwheels Blade lifting and tilting are controlled by ergonomic manual handwheels located at the front of the machine for ease of access. These are connected to a high-precision gearbox protected by a patented dust-shielding system, ensuring the adjustment mechanisms remain fluid and precise despite the harsh workshop environment.
Sturdy Squaring Frame and Rip Fence The machine is equipped with a large squaring frame and a telescopic fence featuring two reversible stops. Combined with a rigid rip fence that slides on a 45 mm diameter ground steel bar, the Nova SI 4 allows for rapid, accurate sizing of panels up to 3200 mm in length.
