Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget or ASEA is a Sweden-based company that was established by Ludvig Fredholm in the year 1883. They specialise in the manufacture of power transmissions and electrical power plants for transportation and other industries. In fact, they have contributed to the electrification of railways and homes in Sweden, making them ranked as one of the largest electrical companies in the 1980's. In 1988, they merged with BBC Brown Boveri to form the new Asea Brown Boveri or ABB.
