This router has been used by us for several years to machine up aluminium parts successfully for our previous business.
The router is manufactured by ART in Queensland and is a heavy duty unit with extremely powerful motors and a high clearance gantry.
The table has a cutting area of at least 3600 mm long by 1700 mm wide and has the option of using T nuts to secure the material to be processed. I believe the envelope could be as large as 4000 mm x 1900 mm but we have never needed to go this large.
We currently have secured a sheet of MDF down, and then we screw the aluminium sheet on the edges to the MDF sheet. We would normally about once a week dress the sheet flat again to get it perfect flat and we would normally get about six weeks out of one sheet before we had to replace with a new one.
We have also manufactured and installed a large 90° Square on the edge of the cutting envelope, which allows you to index the material that you wish to machine simply and quickly.
The unit has an upgraded lubrication system, using a Festo atomising unit which has a large capacity, and so allows for extended cutting time as cutters can be lubricated and so dramatically reduces cutter balling.
Although the machine has only ever been used to machine aluminium, it should have no problem being used on timber.
The unit has a 6 tool changer which is fully functioning and comes complete with the ART software and drawing package.
The unit also has a tool measuring sensor that allows you to easily recalibrate a new tip should you have had to change it at any stage so making set up and running extremely easy.
The replacement cost of this quality unit would likely be more than $150,000 today.
The after sales service from ART is also very good and they have been extremely supportive if I had any questions or technical issues.
As we have got out of the building industry, we no longer require this unit as we no longer are fabricating these types of components.
The machine is fully functional, and we are happy to demonstrate it as part of the sales process.
There is also available a very good quality extraction system which we are including with the sale which uses two cyclones and 4 x 44 gallon drums to hold the waste that has been vacuumed from around the cutting head during processing.
Happy to run it doing a ‘FaceTime’ so you can see it operating and running in real time and have no problems in packing them up to ship.
