FEATURES

The Radial Drilling Machine is of standard configuration with lifting/swinging type table and T-slotted base for installation of larger workpieces. The machine is an all-geared speed drive equipped with a 9-speed spindle gear box and hand-operated quill which has an adjustable depth-stop. All electrical start/stop and emergency stop button are located on the front face. The machine has a number 3 morse taper and large diameter quill to increase rigidity.

The machine can be used for piece and small lot production in repair shops or in the production environment.

The machine is intended for handling medium and large size work pieces. The machine is suitable for drilling, enlarging, core drilling, reaming, tapping, and boring operations using hand operated feed traverse.

The machine is extensively used in toolrooms, experimental, assembly, as well as in repair shops and on-ship repair depots.

Rugged construction of the machine and robustness of its mechanisms rule out any danger of vibration onset during operation

Appropriate spatial arrangement of the spindle and drill head on an adequately broad range of variable spindle rotation frequencies render the machine highly versatile.

Provision of torque overload and axial overthrust safeguards assures long-lasting reliable machine operation

A special device incorporated into the design of the machine enables holes to be machined for a preset depth with an adequate degree of accuracy.

Provision of a swivel column and the fact that the drill head saddle is traversable along the arm ways add much to convenience of machine operation and attendance.

In order to machine holes situated on different surfaces of large?sized workpieces the radial drill is to be reset accordingly

Electrical equipment of the machine is rated for 415V, 50hZ three phase power supply. On special order the electrical equipment can be delivered with ratings to suit customer’s requirements.

The machine controls are situated conveniently for the operator and are provided with the appropriate pictorial drawings and explanatory inscriptions. The column is clamped to the pedestal and the saddle to the arm manually.

The base is essentially a box?shaped casting, reinforced with internal ribbing for stiffness. The base carries the pedestal in which the column is free to rotate.

The column is in fact a rigid tube over which the cross?piece is traversable. The column is supported on two rolling bearings mounted in the pedestal, whereby the arm is easy to rotate round its vertical axis. The machine is supplied with an electro-magnetic clamping device for clamping of the column.

The speed gearbox is for transmitting twelve spindle rotation frequencies from the electric motor. Besides, the speed gearbox incorporates the speed shift mechanism.

The up-and-down traverse mechanism is powered by a separate motor mounted on the column assembly. The radial drill arm can be traversed up and down electrically by the aid of this motor or can be manually wound up and down with a separate crank handle supplied.

Clamping of all movements of the radial drill is by manual levers which are conveniently located for ease of operation.

The arm is a rugged cast iron construction. It is possible to swivel the arm 360° by unclamping and rotating it by a hand operated worm drive. The drill traverses along the arm via the hand wheel mounted at the front of the drill head. The drill spindle can also be rotated at 360° making it possible to drill holes at any angle.
