Ergonomics
Extremely fast and handy horizontal loading of signatures into the gatherer.
Compact
Significant space saving thanks to patented technology.
Cost saving
Reduced number of operators handling the entire production line
Fast setup time
Automatic book program execution significantly reduces start-up times.
Automation
Automatic adjustment of the system transporting the gathered books to the sewing line.
Supervision
The entire production flow is both easy to access and easily monitored.
Horizontal gathering
Horizontal signature loading into the gatherer improves man-machine interaction and, as a result, improves output by making the entire process both extremely handy and fast. A signature supporting plate with adjustable angle also makes it easier to handle any type of required signature.
Space reduction
Operating space can be significantly optimised, and loading operations consequently facilitated, thanks to a patented machine solution that allows two signatures (max head to tail size of up to 350 mm) to be positioned sequentially in the same gathering station.
Fast start-up times
The newly-installed operating logic offers significant time-saving by automatically running the book programme as soon as the signatures have been positioned in the gathering station.
Vertical stacker
The gathered signatures making up the book blocks are conveyed into the stacker. The stacker turns and tips them upright with their spines facing downwards.
Gathered book conveyor system
The entire system conveying the gathered books to the sewing machine is adjusted automatically. Operators simply select one of the eight programmes on the main touch screen and the system instantly carries out the required adjustments to feeding.
By-pass system
Each sewing machine is equipped with a by-pass system consisting of two fully-automatic conveyor units, one translating and the other rotating the gathered products and conveying them to the sewing machine.
Sewing machine loading automation
Each sewing machine is equipped with a tilting station that receives the gathered and pressed book blocks, automatically feeds the hopper, and ensures the gathered signatures are perfectly positioned and conveyed through the system.
Reverse automatic unloading
The stacks of sewn book are transferred to the gatherer where the operator in charge of loading the first gathering stations has the easy task of unloading and stacking the sewn books on the pallet. This technical solution is optional, and has the advantage of requiring the presence of fewer line operators.
Pre-gathering by-pass
In the event that book blocks comprise more signatures than available gathering stations, this unit allows the gatherer to be used as a pre-gatherer, or to load the gathered book blocks onto one or more additional off-line sewing machines.
Operator interface
Programming and diagnostics are carried out by an OMRON PLC. Operators use a series of touch screens to modify and supervise line parameters and operations.
Versatile
Line design features allow for a potential connection between the gathering and sewing line and a palletizer or perfect binding machine (optional).
Accessible
Easy access to the sewing machines from the loading side allows single sewing machines to be used quickly and effectively, even as off-line machines.
