Feeder:
A rising pile, back separation stream feeder coupled to the SUV by angled vacuum feed bed with micro-adjustable side-lay. The Heidelberg feed head (H) is driven by a servo motor, is processor controlled, and receives its accuracy from a sophisticated encoder on the main AC drive motor, resulting in an accurate under-lap of the grip edge of the sheet at speed. The feeder is fitted with a mill skid plate, allowing a full pallet of print up to 1.2 m high to be loaded.
Softal Corona Unit:
This unit increases the dyne level of the sheet, resulting in a much better bond between the Spot UV, foiling and print.
Inkjet Spot UV:
Consists of a conveyor, built with 20 mm thick steel side-plates, in sections. The first section is a vacuum belt with the corona unit mounted above. The second section is the Spot UV, where a driven vacuum belt holds the sheets firm and flat. A row of 7 inkjet print-heads digitally prints UV gloss ink onto laminated sheets using a bitmap (BMP) image file. A high speed laser sensor registers a double thickness over the overlap, which activates the ink jet heads. Registration can be adjusted mechanically using the side lay or digitally. Following varnish application, the sheets continue along the vacuum feed table and immediately under a pinning lamp (PI).
Pinning Lamp:
The LED UV curing lamp is positioned close to the inkjet heads. Immediately after coating, the lamp applies a partial cure to hold the place, shape and height of the varnish when running high build work.
GEW Arc Lamp Curing System:
This is located above the vacuum belt, and has an LED UV cartridge which is interchangeable for sensitive stock.
Foiler:
A 3” differential unwind airshaft allows a roll of gold or silver foil to be applied to the surface of freshly varnished and cured sheets with a pair of 360 mm diameter rollers. The top roller is heated with a 12 kW TCU to 130c. The waste skeleton is re-wound onto another driven 3” differential airshaft. The foiled sheets then pass into the jogger, or an optional 2 m refrigerated vacuum conveyor can be purchased.
Electronics:
The machine is fitted with Lenze HMI and programmable logic controller, which control all machine functions. Drives are Lenze Topline digital inverters and servo drives. Electrics are 3phase 380-415v. Lenze products provide remote access machine diagnostics via Ethernet router.
The key points of this unit are:
Ink jet spot UV varnishing machine can enhance the end product by utilizing spot-printing and gloss UV, creating a beautiful mirror finish gloss.
This unit increases the dyne level of the sheet, resulting in a much better bond between the Spot UV, foiling and print at high speed..
It can also add textured effects onto the sheet at high speed.
It is also capable of raised UV also known as “digital embellishment,” or “3D spot UV.”
In-line foiling options will be available soon.
2012 SUV 52H but then upgraded and fitted with the latest XARR heads in 2018.
Max sheet 520mm – Max printing width 488mm
