The stand out feature on this machine is that it has electronic variable speed for your spindle and chuck. On the headstock there is a gear change for 3 different speed ranges, within these ranges it is infinitely variable and can be run an any desired speed the operator wants. On traditional lathes you have defined speeds and they are fixed because of the gear ratios but because the EVS lathe uses an inverter to control the speed the fixed speeds are non existent on this lathe.
Another advantage is the reduced time of gear changes to change spindle speed, its as simple as turning a knob and viewing the speed on a readout.
