The 20kN side-mount version has been designed to allow cable to be lifted in from one side. This design has the advantage of being more compact when used in restricted areas such as a trench. It is easier to lift heavy cable into the side of the pusher than it is to lift it over the pusher and into the top. The hydraulic power unit includes the control valving and is positioned remotely, generally on the embankment above the trench.
