Established in 1907, Daihatsu is the oldest car manufacturer in Japan and it has built a name in the compact car and off-road vehicle category. In 1953, it made its first export and by 1980 approximately 500,000 Daihatsu vehicles were exported across the globe. At present, the company provides engines and transmissions for Padua, a Malaysian car company and manufactures selected Scion vehicles for Toyota.
